Biggest Loser Competition: "Try"Athlon

First of all, there was an earthquake last night down where Matt's family lives, but they are all fine! I was actually just thinking last night about the earthquake drills we had in elementary school and how we never had to use them. Then, this morning my coworker told me about the earthquake and upon further reading I found out the epicenter was near Matt's mom's house. Its crazy when you find out something like that has effected people you know and love! Like I said, they are all fine, and no damage was done.

On to Biggest Loser...this week's challenge was to do a Triathlon on the cardio machines: 2 miles on the elliptical, 3 miles on the treadmill, and 7 miles on the bike...all in one workout! I had a really bad attitude about it and just decided I was going to walk the whole time, but then I saw Matt working really hard and decided that I should at least complete it...just for my own satisfaction.

1 hour, 37 minutes and 17 seconds later...I completed the cardio machine triathlon! It took Matt 1 hour and 20 minutes. What a workout last night! There was one other challenge we were supposed to do but I can't remember what it was and I was so done after the triathlon!

After we were done with the triathlon, we had 20 minutes to run home, take showers, get ready and go to our students' school play. One of our students directed a play and a majority of our students were actors and actresses in the plays. I got home last night and crashed into bed. If any of the earthquake tremors did hit us, I wouldn't have felt it!

I'm excited for this weekend...Matt and I are going to Milwaukee for the night and then just spending the day together! We are getting away for the weekend...YAY!

These are the pictures from last night's play:

If My Head Wasn't Attached...

I'd probably lose it this week! What a challenge life has been in the last two weeks...and all because I am doing a lot of great things! The key there is "a lot". Work has been a little nuts...but I love my job and enjoy what I do. Meant For More is this coming weekend, and I'm excited to see how it all comes together.

Oh and did I mention that I'm going to El Salvador in a month? That just got added to the list this week and I am SO excited! I am going on a mission trip with my mom and sister. Hearts At Home and Compassion International are partnering together and so we are going to see all of what Compassion does in El Salvador.

Its a good thing my mom is coming up this weekend for Meant for More or else I don't think my house would get cleaned, let alone picked up this week! (I just reread that and it sounded like my mom will be doing the cleaning. Nope, I am cleaning for my mom. :) Love ya mom!)

By the way, I WON last week's Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge - 4 Pounds!!! Yay! Matt won the furthest distance on the treadmill and the most crunches in 60 seconds! I am so proud of him!

This week's challenge (on top of all of life's challenges):
  • How fast can you do a mile on each machine? (not looking forward to my meeting with the eliptical machine!)
  • How many pushups can you do in 60 seconds?
  • No smoking or alcohol (Freebie for me!)

Biggest Loser Competition

I weighed in last night from week 1 and was disappointed. I hadn't lost a single ounce! I weighed exactly what I weighed a week ago!!! I wasn't just disappointed in the scale, but also myself. I hadn't taken the eating part of this very seriously and really hadn't watched what I was eating.

So this week I am determined to see a change on the scale!

This week's challenges:
  • 9 glasses of water (or Crystal Lite) a day
  • How many crunches can you do in 60 seconds? (I did this challenge last night and got 61! I am the title holder so far...we'll see if anyone beat me tonight)
  • How many miles can you do in 25 minutes on each machine (treadmill, elliptical and bike)?
I DETEST the elliptical machine. We are not friends. I looked at that last challenge and about croaked. 25 minutes on THAT MACHINE!?! So last night I decided to just get it out of the way. The miles to beat at the moment was 1.8. When I was done I had gone 1.5. I was a little bummed that I hadn't beat 1.8 but I was also really proud of myself because I really pushed myself hard!

We'll see how this week goes...

Check out this great post on Megan Kaeb's site - The Battle of M&M - I think we can all relate!

Biggest Loser Competition

Matt and I have joined the Biggest Loser Competition at our gym. We know the woman who runs the gym and she blessed us with allowing us to join the competition for free! I am not sure, however, that we quite understood what we were in for! There is a diet to follow and weekly workout challenges that we have to complete. Its awesome for accountability! We joined a week late, so we have to do both weeks. Last night, I did two of the three machines for the calorie buster challenge. Today I am feeling awesome blah sore!

Week One Challenges:
  • Go the distance challenge- Do three separate miles and log your time for each mile at the front desk. The only catch - you must use at least two different cardio machines. Example: 2 miles on the bike and one on the treadmill, or 1 mile on the elliptical and 1 on the bike and 1 on the treadmill.
  • Good Start! - Make it to the fitness studio at least 4 times this week.
Week Two Challenges:
  • Calorie Buster - Do 20 minutes on each piece of cardio and log the number of calories you burn on each machine. Log the number of calories on each machine - as you do them at the front desk. You should have three totals at the end of the week. Your best number for the elliptical, your best for the treadmill and your best number on the bike. A little prize goes to the person that burns the most calories overall.
  • No Candy or Soda Pop Challenge - absolutely no candy or soda this week - you are on the honor system!
  • Body Squat Challenge - Have the front desk time you for 60 seconds and see how many body squats you can do in one minute.
