Freezing Marinated Chicken Breasts

I just found this great tip for freezing chicken breasts. I already split up chicken breasts into their own bags for portion control, but this is a great tip for marinated chicken breasts.

Buy several pounds of boneless chicken breasts (preferably when on sale). Poke each chicken breast with a fork to allow marinade. Package chicken according to your family's appetite.

Combine marinade and breast halves in labeled freezer bags. Seal bags, and knead the pieces of meat to circulate the marinade. Lay bags flat with pieces of meat side by side in a flat pan with sides. Marinate meat for desired time in refrigerator. Place pan in freezer; freeze bags flat. Remove frozen bags from pan, and stack in freezer. For kabobs or stir-fry, cut breast halves into cubes or strips, and follow the same instructions.

  1. Thanks for the advice! I'm a newlywed and am still discovering all the delicious ways to cook at home. I just tried chicken marsala in our pressure cooker (wedding gift!) last night, and it was a hit. And the best part? My new husband is a huge help in the kitchen!

  2. Isn't it fun to use the new things we get as newlyweds? :) I'm still opening things up three years later!
