That's Who I Am!

Matt and I were eating at Texas Roadhouse last night and one of my favorite songs came on, "Who I Am" by Jessica Andrews. It was such a timely reminder for me. This past year there have been so many changes in my life. I became a wife, moved away from home permanently, got my own home for the first time, started a new job and became a pastor's wife, just to name a few. My brother, Evan, called me last night and said, "Anne Elaine Savage!" then paused and said "Oops...sorry! Anne Elaine McClane!" My friend Emilie once asked me, which name do you identify with the most? What a hard question! More and more I relate myself to Anne McClane...but there are moments when I relate to Anne Savage. Talk about a year-long identity crisis!

But last night at dinner, it was a reminder that it really doesn't matter what my name is. I am a child of God first and foremost. My identity is in Him! I don't think it matters to Him what name I have.

Check out the lyrics to the song!

  1. OOOH I can relate! I have to write my name a million times a day yet I still sometimes forget and almost write Oglesby instead of Gaizat. Changes...hard but good! I like your insight, though. Being a daughter of God is our most important identity and that never changes.
